Here are reports by Urban Reforestation regarding our project Target 3008 in the Docklands, Melbourne, supported by the Victorian Government’s Sustainability Fund and a large amount of in-kind support.
Urban Reforestation's Docklands Community Garden is a great place for people to literally get their hands dirty and become green thumbs in the convivial community garden. It is a beautiful oasis of nature to catch up with friends and share stories over a barbeque, picnic or drink.
Community gardens are places where people come together to grow fresh food, to learn, relax and make new friends. They are so important for creating community life in a place, building awareness around sustainable living and having fun!
Docklands Garden Brings Life and Soul to the Docks in Melbourne! Melbourne’s love of bringing life to hidden spaces has sprouted in Docklands with the opening of its Community Garden in Geographe Street Docklands on Sunday 15 July, in a joint initiative from Urban Reforestation, Places Victoria and the City of Melbourne.
On Sunday 15th of July the Docklands Community Garden was opened in the middle of this new suburb. This is the product of hard work over three years of the Docklands Community, Cultivating Community, government, and a social enterprise I am involved with called Urban Reforestation.
