The United Nations Association of Australia today announces the finalists in this year’s national World Environment Day Awards.

Having eradicated an invasive ant army from 21 sites in Arnhem Land over the past 5 years, the Dhimurru Aboriginal Corporation has committed itself to managing the spread of the yellow crazy ant, one of the top 100 worst invasive species in the world.
Significant in terms of regional conservation, and timely in this International Decade of Biodiversity, this multi-agency collaboration is just one of the many innovative environmental projects and initiatives on the shortlist for the country’s top environmental prize, the United Nations Association of Australia’s World Environment Day Awards.
Also shortlisted are banks, businesses, journalists, local councils, schools, community groups and projects across Australia, from Kununurra to Queenscliff.
