Designers & Creatives of the World Share your vision with us!

Urban Reforestation will be running a poster & storytelling competition throughout June - July.

The aim of the competition is for you to share your vision of Urban Reforestation with us. We will share the poster on our blog and social media and reference your work.

The aim is to continue an important conversation about Urban Reforestation and how it can change the face of our cities and the way we live in them.

Have you heard of the term YIMBY (Yes In My Back Yard)? It is a movement opposite to NIMBY (Not In My Back Yard). According to urban planners, NIMBY means people will not support a change in the urban landscape, as it will affect their private space.

Last week I wrote a piece about Creative Communities: 'A call to Action'. My point was Victorians can not just rely on the government to design our communities and places for us. It is evident individuals and communities need to play a much stronger and creative role in the process of designing and caring for place.

Transition Towns Research

Emily the director of Urban Reforestation was lucky enough to visit Rob Hopkins office yesterday to research the Transition Towns Movement. Thank you very much to Transition Towns Network and in particular Francis for being such a wonderful host. There is a movement for sustainable living going on and it is grounded in place. This means there is tangible ways for communities and individuals to be active citizens in making a difference towards sustainability together under an exciting movement called Transition Towns.
