Docklands Community Garden Design Team

Dai Le

Dai Le graduated from the University of Melbourne with a Bachelor in Landscape Architecture. At present she works for the City of Darebin as a graduate landscape architect. Her current projects include playspace designs, streetscape master plans and interpretative signage design. The idea of a community garden in a highly dense and urbanised space such as docklands is what attracted Dai to assisting with the community garden project.

David Heymann

David Heymann is a final year Landscape Architecture student at the University of Melbourne, passionate about the urban form, landscape and the future growth of our cities. David is continually involved and engaged in various landscape events and activities, whilst being a student representative of the AILA Fresh group at the University of Melbourne. Currently, David is completing his degree with a large scale project based in the City of Yarra focusing on the concepts of sustainability and urban food production. With this in mind, David held a key interest in becoming involved in the design process of a potential new community garden at Docklands, to further implement the notion of urban agriculture elsewhere in the city. Graduating in November, David hopes to continue assisting with the Docklands community garden project and other design opportunities that eventuate in the near future.

Carlia Marie Bates

Carlia Marie Bates is originally from South Australia, where she has studied Architecture, Landscape Architecture and Digital Media – obtaining a Bachelor of Design Studies Degree from the University of Adelaide. She is currently studying at the University of Melbourne and is in her first year of the Landscape Architecture Masters Program. Carlia is interested in community based projects and the possibilities for activation of public space in the urban environment.

Mark Skiba

Mark Skiba is a graduate of the University of Melbourne’s Landscape Architecture Program and practices full-time at Tract Consults.  He has experience in a variety of landscape projects, including residential developments (subdivisions and medium density) and industrial parks.  Mark is also on the Victorian AILA Committee as coordinator of ‘Fresh’ – the organisation’s youth arm that bridges the gap between students and young graduates.

Sue Ozanne

Sue Ozanne is a Landscape Architect with a Bachelor of Built Environment (Landscape Architecture) and degree from Queensland University of Technology (QUT). She has worked as a Landscape Architect in the private sector for over five years in both Melbourne and Brisbane offices of Tract. She has been involved in a wide range of landscape architectural projects including residential subdivisions, industrial estates, university and hospital campuses, and streetscape redevelopments. Sue has a particular interest in the interface between urban design and landscape architecture, specifically water sensitive urban design, environmentally sustainable development and the use of indigenous and native plants.

Katie Williams

Katie Williams has over five years of experience in both the private and public sectors of landscape architecture; having worked on small to large-scale landscape, infrastructure, residential, and urban design projects. Prior to working in Australia, she graduated with a degree in Landscape Architecture from Colorado State University in the US. As a member of the Australian Institute of Landscape Architects (AILA), she has been part of several working committees, including the Environment Group, Chair of ‘Fresh’ and currently coordinator of ‘Cultivate’ events for AILA Victoria members.
