Target 3008, Sustainable Lifestyles in Docklands

Target 3008: Cleaner, Greener Living… Together.

Dock 5 and Victoria Point residents are encouraged to participate in the project Target 3008 to reduce waste, meet people in your community and enjoy the benifits sustianable lifestyles.

In conjunction with the Victorian Governments Sustainability Fund, Urban Reforestation is going to help the community of Docklands reduce their waste and we need you all on board. The project started in August 2010 and since then, we’ve been conducting Waste Audits in Dock 5 and Victoria Point. While the results were not discouraging, there is plenty of room for improvement with regards to food waste.

We’ve also been running a series of free workshops that have been becoming increasingly popular with residents (check out http://www.urbanreforestation.com/workshops-program/ for details).

So what can you do to be a part of Target 3008?

That’s easy! Take an action to reduce your waste and we will add it to our tally and you will be one step closer to a sustainable community. Below are some actions that we can recommend but feel free to create your own, but make sure to tell us about it. You do have to be a resident of Dock 5 or Victoria Point to qualify, but if you’re not, keep up the good work and come down and visit us.

Suggestions:

start a garden

compost

participate in our workshops (ie. composting, organic gardening)

reducing energy, water and waste consumption

get some ideas from our Target 3008 Storyboard page
